A Quantitative GIS and AHP Based Analysis for Geodiversity Assessment and Mapping

In recent times, the issues of geodiversity assessment and mapping have been subject great attention, many evaluation methodologies, either quantitative or qualitative, developed. this research, a first in Liguria region has carried out, according to method based on spatial analysis techniques implemented GIS environment. This considers four diversity indices obtained by grid analysis, relevant main aspects geodiversity: geology, geomorphology, hydrogeology pedology. The index was calculated two with non-weighted sum, then weighted sum indices. second case, weights assigned semi-quantitative analytical hierarchy process (AHP) experts’ judgment. results show that is characterized areas high geodiversity, most them internationally known geoscientists tourists for their valuable geoheritage stunning landscapes. correspondence between these protected european Natura 2000 network suggests link biodiversity.
